• The Northern Licensing Authority. Mr. John Hanlon, on August 19 turned down an application by Salkeld Bros. (Transport and Plant) Ltd. of Consett, Co. Durham, to vary its B licence.

Mr. Hanlon was giving judgment at Dur ham following an interim decision. The application was for an 8 ton 8 cwt eight-wheel tipper in the place of a 4 ton four-wheeler, and a 6 ton 6 cwt six-wheel tipper and an eight-wheeler in the place of a six-wheeler and a four-wheeler.

The application was first heard in Newcastle upon Tyne on August 7 when Mr. Hanlon gave an interim decision and said he would review the application at the end of the expiry period.
