Devon Trading Take-over : The Devon Trading Co. Ltd. has acquired for cash and shares the whole share capital of Blatchfords Packers and Removers Ltd., the Exeter concern which has an extensive business in depot warehousing and regional distribution; another branch specializes in furniture removals. A subsidiary, Blatchfords Packers and Shippers Ltd., operates from depots in Plymouth and Exeter. The intention is to amalgamate the warehousing and distribution with the recently acquired Reece Warehouses Ltd., providing a combined fleet of more than 50 vehicles. Management of the business will Continue with Mr. W. E. Blatchford as managing director, assisted by his four sons as directors of the various companies.
Rail Oil Contract : British Railways Board has signed the seventh in its series of longterm contracts for the bulk transport of oil and oil products, the customer this time being Total Oil Products (Great Britain) Ltd. Total has guaranteed a minimum of
2 m. to 3 m tons of rail traffic for fast block freight transit, over a period of years.
