• The Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company has completed a record year for cargo handling which is up 16 per cent and has topped the 3 million tonne mark for the first time.
The company, which already operates the world's largest private enterprise port, is reclaiming a further 60 acres for general cargo and roll-on/roll-oft berths. It aims to be handling 6m tons of cargo by 1975. During the 12 months ended June 30 it handled 118,244 containers -a 21 per cent increase on the 1972 handlings.
