• Edinburgh's busmen are taking an extremely tough line over two vital issues in the city's transport—their £1 a week "frozen" rise and the introduction of the proposed new "pattern of operations" for bus services.
The Corporation has been asked for an assurance that as soon as the standstill on the £1-a-week rise ends—it has been held back until July 26 on Government order—it will pay the increase backdated to December 14 when the national agreement with employers was made.
Mr. Ronald Cox, transport manager, has also been told that even though the corporation agrees to this request from the union it still makes no difference to the refusal to co-operate in the running of the new services which have received the approval of the Scottish Traffic Commissioners.
