Some dads make their little 'uns a kite, or perhaps a sailing boat to race in the village pond. But two-year-old Thomas Floyd's father thinks big: he built his son a 21ft replica of his trusty Volvo. Dave Floyd, from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, runs D&W Floyd International with his wife Rachel. He built Thomas's lorry using scrap metal and truck parts: it's powered by a 7hp diesel from a cement mixer, has a top speed of 12mph and averages 100mpg. Dave wanted his son to get bitten by the trucking bug and it seems to have worked: ''He's a natural and I think he's hooked," he says proudly. If you want to see this miracle of mini-engineering for yourself, Floyd International will be entering the not-somini-truck along with its fleet of full-sized Volvos at Truckfest over the Bank Holiday weekend, 2-3 May.
