NATIONAL Freight Consortium subsidiaries SonitrolPickfords and lank freight have introduced a 24-hour hazardous products information and advice service called Chernhaz.
At a cost related to fleet size, any fleet operator can be registered with Chemhaz and use its specialist phone number which is manned at all times, throughout the year.
The operator answering the emergency services' call will have instant access through visual display units to computerised information on all registered products and instructions on actions to be taken in the event of a spillage or similar incident.
All vehicles carrying hazardous products are obliged by law to carry a warning sign and phone number which should he answerable 24 hours a day.
