"Three cheers" for MECCA I (CM July II). For so long now everyone has been going alone; unable to got viable rates.
There is a limit to trimming costs and still continue-giving a first-class service. No one over the past few years has been able to hold his price, even to :a reasonable level, and so the spiral has increased. • The lorry owner over the same period has had savage increases which he has had to try to :absorb; any increased rates obtained have fallen alarmingly short.
All of us can shame Ein the above predicament, including the Government. This country has a non-militant transport set-up and I believe a good one. I am proud of my country; proud to be a lorry driver, and I just wish to serve my country and my customers. Is this too much to ask ?
A viable transport system is vital to the economy of this country. The powers to-be are doing nothing; the illegal operator is allowed to trade, the honest cannot survive the unfair competition; he abides by the law, but gets no protection from it.
