Two versions of the 1100 make up the light van range from the French division of Chrysler. In standard and High Top form, the mechanical units are derived from the Simca 1100 saloon featuring a petrol engine of 1188cc (72cu in) capacity, which produces 40kW (54bhp), and front-wheel-drive transmission. Suspension is independent by torsion oars all round with heavy-duty units at the rear which are also adjustable for ride height. Other features taken from the passenger car include rack and pinion steering, a four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox-and disc front/drum rear brakes with servo assistance.
The inferior height of the standard 1100 van is 914mm (36in) while equivalent dimension for the High Top, designed for operators who need more space to make use of the 508kg (10cwt) payload, is 1270mm (50 in). Both versions have a loading platform 457mm (18in) above the ground, with the increased height of the High Top giving a total loadspace of 2.46cum (88cuft). The wheelbase is 2.52m (8ft 314 in) and the overall length 3.96m (12ft 11 in). The prices for the 1100 are £1034 and £1224 for the standard and High Top versions respectively.
