Designed to convert flat wooden pallets into solid-sided bins, Palletower timber collars can be fitted by one man in a few seconds. The collars consist of four boards connected by hinges at each corner. The hinges have bottom-mounted lugs which locate onto the pallet corners or other timber collars to produce bins of varying height.
Timber collars are available in two standard heights, 200mm (8 in) and 400 mm (15.8 in) and can be made to suit pallets from 609mm (2ft) square to 1.5m (8ft) by 2.7m (9ft).
In addition to four-hinge collars, the company also produces six-hinge variants which will fold-up to nest within the dimensions of the pallet. A lid which can be used with collars and strapping to form returnable export containers is also available.
One advantage claimed for the collars is that they can be added or removed progressively as the bins fill or empty. The operator doesn't have to reach over the bin to reach to goods at the bottom of the pallet.
