• When A. C. Hows appeared before the West Midland LA, Mr. 3. Else, under Section 178 on Wednesday, his licence was revoked. Hows had six separate convictions listed against him comprising some 70 charges.
Mr. Else said that since he last saw Mr. Hows at an inquiry, he had ordered a fleet inspection; this had showed that his system of maintenance had not been improved and had resulted in the issue of two immediate and one delayed GV9. Mr. Hows told the LA that his record was such that he had decided to discontinue his haulage operations in their present form and would be applying for a licence in the name of a limited company; thus he hoped to begin again with a "clean slate".
