LUCAS GIRLING claims that its Skidchek MGX anti-lock braking system is now being fitted to more than 60 per cent of all new trailers built in Britain.
The company further claims that Skidchek is supplied to every one of the company's major trailer builders.
Production of the mechanical parts for the system has been moved out of its pilot factory to a production base in Tredegar, South Wales, which is already supplying actuation products to the trailer market.
Specially developed for controlling compressed air trailer braking stystems Skidchek MGX is claimed to offer important and safety critical benefits which include maximum trailer stability, prevention qf trailer swing and reduction in tyre wear.
The company stresses that the application of any anti-lock system to a semi-trailer will prevent jack-knifing only when it is combined with anti-lock on the tractive unit as well.
