WITH REFERENCE to David Wilcox's well-written article on Tail lifts (CM, 19 February), as importers of the Swedish Zepro we feel it worth amending a few facts which are not quite correct and may mislead potential cantilever operators.
(1). A cantilever lift can be mounted on a frameless trailer by the simple means of adding a small section of chassis at the relevant position required.
(2). A cantilever can be mounted at the side. We show an example on our Zepro videotape.
(3). A wider aperture can be gained as sealing rubber is only 50mm wide and there is no need for deep header rail, (4). A cantilever lift platform can always remain level when operating even if truck is on a gradient.
(5). The correct extra cost of a 1250 (49.1/4") Aluminium platform is £545 and this includes safety antislip treatment on surface.
Fortunately we do not share in the article's pessimism about cantilever acceptance in UK — our experience is that once an operator tries this fully hydraulic type they rarely return to the . inherent problems of cable lifts. GRAHAM LONGDON Longdon Truck Equipment Limited Director Stockport
