THE LATEST model in the Mercedes G Series range of four-wheeldrive cross-country estate cars is the 230GE.
Power is provided by a slightly derated version of the four-cylinder 2.3-litre single overhead camshaft fuel injection petrol engine as is employed in the 230E saloon.
Fitted here it develops 93kW (125bhp) and is matched to a new five-speed gearbox — a combination which promises greater fuel economy.
A very high mechanical specification includes high and low range of gears and difflocks on both axles. The price is £14,195.
