Brewery group sLams 'naked' street scheme in Camden
BREWERY LOGISTICS Group (BLG) has hit out at the sudden decision by Camden Council to strip 4s high street of road markings.
As part of a £1.5m decluttering scheme, all street signs and markings will be removed from Camden High Street in London tomorrow (Friday 27 November). Footpaths will be widened, leaving less parking spaces.
Deliveries can be made in new signed bays at any time, excluding weekends, but all motorists can use them in the week from 6.30pm to 8.30am.
Mike Bracey, chairman of the BLG, says: "There are enough distractions as it is in London." He claims he was not notified of the scheme until Monday, "How does this sudden news give enough time to notify drivers of serious changes?'
Camden Council says the scheme has been used in Holland and contributes to drivers slowing down and taking greater care.
