maker Steyr within its MAN parent has moved closer with the launch of its new heavy tractor based on MANrs F2000 cab.
Virtually the entire Steyr line-up between 19-40 tonnes GCW will sport the German-built F2000 cabin but with the distinctive Steyr off-set grille (see below).
The new truck's interior will reinforce Steyr's individual manufacturing identity: Steyr's distinctive corner air deflectors have also been integrated into the F2000 cab.
A choke of day or sleeper cabs will be offered along with a Roadhausstyle high-roof cab for a drawbar.
Euro-2 engines from 340 to 460hp are expected to feature in the latest Steyr line-up and a 550hp 18litre vee-12 is believed to be in the pipeline. Steyr's use of the F2000 tab balances MANrs use of the Steyr middleweight cab for its 12000 range—this cab is also used by ERF on its ES range.
