BECAUSE a vehicle that 111,4 over 3 tons was under the 7,5 kilos heavy goods vehicle lirr a driver had thought that he r not need to obey a lane resti tion on a motorway, Newp, (Gwent) magistrates were toll
They fined John Alan Him cliff, a driver employed Howorth Scofield Ltd, Ramsbottom, Lancashire, £ and endorsed his licence, I said that there were spe( reasons for not disqualify' him under the totting up prc sions.
The prosecution said that Hinchcliff's vehicle was seen the second lane of a motorv outside Newport; that lane v under restrictions prohibiting use by vehicles in excess o tons as it was on a hill.
Mr Hinchcliff gave evid& that he had not believed that restriction applied to his veh as it was not classed as a he goods vehicle.
