THE value of commercial vehicles exported in November was the highest figure ever recorded, exceeding the £11m. mark for the first time. This was partly because the Commercial Motor Show was held in September.
A total of 14,929 units were sent abroad, which represents an increase of 4,983 over the previous month and a gain of 505 over the earlier highest level, recorded in May, 1960. Goods vehicles showed the greatest increase with a rise of 4,489 compared with the month of October.
Production continued to run at a high level in November, at 9,387 units a week. slightly lower than the record 9,677 set up in June, but favourably comparable with the weekly average of 7,125 for the whole of 1959. Details appear in the accompanying tables.
DODGE OPTIMISM 'THE Dodge division of the Chrysler I Corporation, Detroit, has announced that retail sales of new lorries reached 2.937 in December-26 per cent. higher than in December, 1959. Dodge anticipates " continued sales increases."
