From our Political Correspondent IN/HEN the Government's plans for the VV railways are debated in the Commons next Monday. the Opposition will attack proposals for decentralization and dismemberment of the British Transport Commission, particularly in the field of road-rail co-operation.
Pressure is to be brought on Mr. Marples to introduce regulations governing the movement of mobile -cranes. He will be asked in the House of Commons when he proposes to bring in the regulations which have been under consideration by the Ministry for the past three years.
Publication of the Government's Road Safety Bill is expected to be announced next month.
42-HOUR WEEK FOR M.M.B.
A42-hour week has been negotiated for transport workers and mechanics employed by the Milk Marketing Board. Pay increases for mechanics have been approved amounting to 16s. a week (skilled) and 10s. a week (unskilled).
