FOLLOWING the trend set in the previous month, the registrations of new commercial vehicles in October continued U3 rise, reaching a total for the month of 23,937. The September figure was 22,742. This increase was mainly attributable to a rise of 1,992 in registrations of goods vehicles, but the figure is still well down on the monthly average for the year.
In the first 10 months of 1960 the number of new commercial vehicles, at 247,767, was greater than in the first -11 months of 1959, when the total was 239,749. This compares favourably with the 201,968 registrations reached in the first 10 months of 1958 and 169,428 for a similar period in 1957. Details appear in The accompanying table.
