• Lord Wakefield of Kendal is to accept honorary membership of the Industrial Transport Association having been invited to do so by Mr. H. Douglas, the Association's national chairman, at the a.g.m. on Saturday. Lord Wakefield, who is 71, has retired from the presidency of the ITA after 17 years. He has been succeeded by Lord St. Helen.
Members also learned that the total membership of the Association increased by 20 per cent during the last 12 months and that there is an improvement of £2,000 in the Association's funds. The chairman attributed the increase in membership to the professional interest created by the Transport Act.
The Association has agreed to amend its graduateship examination to cover the requirements of the basic grade of transport managers' licences.
