• A total of f 18m is to be spent by Ford on extensions to its engine manufacturing plant at Dagenham. In announcing this plan, Ford stated that most of the money would be spent on equipment including the most up-to-date automatic machines. A computer-controlled warehouse will be included.
When complete, the extension will add 400,000 sq.ft. to the engine factory and when fully operational will provide for an increase in production between 40 and 50 per cent.
