Big fine for tad() offences

• Two partners of High Wycombe-based D&D Transport and one of its drivers have been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £3,100 after being found guilty of drivers hours and tachograph offences by Birmingham magistrates.
Driver Melvyn Candlin was accused of six offences of exceeding 4 hours driving without the required break; two of failing to make entries on the centre field of a tachograph
chart; and one of failing to return tachograph charts to his employer within 21 days after 35 charts over 21 days old were found in his cab.
The partners, David McColin and David Webb, were charged with permitting Candlin's 4hour driving offences and failing to ensure Candlin returned tacho charts within 21 days.
The magistrates fined Candlin a total of £980; McColin and Webb were each fined £1,030. All three were ordered to pay £20 costs.
