A N appeal by Doncaster County
Borough against the decision of the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners granting to the Yorkshire Traction Co. Ltd. a variation of a road service licence to permit a stage carriage service between the railway station, Doncaster, and West Street, M'exborough, has been dismissed by the Minister of Transport.
The Minister, in accepting the recommendation of his inspector, noted that the need for a service to the estate was not disputed and that the only application before the Commissioners was that of the respondents. He considered that, in terms of the limited service now authorized, no case was established for seeking to divide the service between operators. The Minister also found no grounds for increasing the protective conditions applicable to the present service in favour of the Corporation, on grounds of abstraction from the latter's existing bus services.
