AN attempt by Jackson's Transport (Ossett) Ltd. to break into the heavy haulage field was blocked by established heavy hauliers at the Transport Tribunal last week, when their appeal was allowed.
Mr. R. M. Yorke represented Elliott (Hauliers) Ltd., of York and L. V. Brooksbank, of Hull, who appealed against the grant of a 7-ton low-loader trailer in substitution for a 4+-ton flat trailer by the Yorkshire deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. M. Gosnay.
Notice of objection by the Transport Holding Company (Pickfords Ltd.) arrived out of time before the public inquiry, said Mr. Yorke, but they were allowed to make representations there.
The Tribunal president, Mr. G. D. Squibb, said that the reasons for allowing the appeal would be put in writing.
