MIDDLESBROUG H'S watch and licensing committee recently decided to seek land from other committees for the immediate establishing of a lorry " port ". This move follows the Many complaints caused by the overnight parking of heavy, lorries in Middlesbrough. The proposed port would be fenced in, well lighted at night for security, perhaps have a watchman to guard the vehicles and a nominal parking fee might be charged.
Commenting on the matter, Aid. J. G. Boothby said: "We hope to have something of a temporary character ready by next month." He said the committee had received at least four petitions from people complaining about lorry parking in various parts of the town.
