MEGOTIATIONS between Exeter Corporation and the Devon General Omnibus Co., Ltd., over the proposed sale of the city's transport undertaking to the company should be discontinued, the transport committee have recom. mended.
The reason is that the company are unable to suggest any method of providing the safeguards required by the corporation to protect present staff and service arrangements, in particular those relating to pensions and -sick pay.
The post of general manager of the Exeter undertaking; which has been vacant during the negotiations, is to be advertised.
