A DRIVER who was summoned at
Wimbledon lastweek for failing to take 10 hours' rest in a working period of 24 hours told the court that he was A family man and was trying to make up a day on his run from London to Edinburgh so that he could be home for the week-end. He was now unemployed because his employers 'had dismissed him for doing a sithilar thing again.
John Smith, Roche House, Beccles Road, Poplar, the defendant, was fined E2 for the offence. Oakleys (London and Scottish Transport), Ltd., Queen's Road, Wimbledon, were Tined £2 for -failing to cause records to be kept. Both defendants, pleaded guilty to the charges.
Mr. J. Potter, for Oakleys. said that it was impossible for the company to be at Smith's shoulder while he was driving to see that he 'filled in his records.
