L-OR the past seven days, a Dodge 6-tonner operated by Jack Coates and Son, Ltd., 40 Chiswick Common Road, London, WA, has been
travelling under police escort through 143 towns and villages in Scotland and England, carrying a giant "birthday cake" surmounted by 25 lighted candles.
The outfit, which left Glasgow last Friday morning, arrived at Clapham Junction, London, last Measuring 12 ft. in diameter and 10 ft. high, the " cake" is fitted inside as a television lounge. It weighs a ton and is provided with two doors. The candles were lit by electricity.
Lady Barnett, of television fame, will be featured in a closed-circuit commercial television show which will be presented at Hastings' store today.
Jack Coates and Son, Ltd., who returned to the haulage field with a fleet of ex-British Road Services vehicles early last year, will be represented in a window display including an illuminated model of the lorry and its load, accompanying a map of the 535-mile route followed on "Operation Cakewalk," as it. has been named. Coloured lights on the map will pinpoint its progress towards London.
BURMESE ORDERS 'FOR TELEHOIST: PRICES CUT

vehicles with Telehoist steel bodies have been ordered by the Burmese Embassy. There are 150 Bedford five-ton short-wheelbase vehicles with Telehoist bodies already operating in Burma. Another Burmese order is for 100 Austin 5-ton oilers with Telehoist 4.4-cu.-yd. tipping bodies.
Lower prices for Tclehoist equipment for Bedford chassis have been fixed. The SL.1 4-cu.-yd. tipping body with fixed sides now costs £150 and with drop sides £160. The 5-cu.-yd. type with fixed sides is £160 and with drop sides £170.
Telehoist, Ltd., Cheltenham, say that similar equipment will soon be available for other makes of chassis. All bodies are made with 10-gtiuge flooring and 12-gauge sides.
