• Worthing-based tipper operator FL Gamble & Sons was given a sharp warning when it appeared at disciplinary proceedings before South Eastern & Metropolitan Deputy Traffic Commissioner Marion Simon.
Simon said she had initially believed she would have to revoke the licence because of the company's maintenance record. However, she was satisfied the company was doing everything possible to keep out of trouble.
Vehicle examiner Harry Cook detailed two immediate prohibitions imposed for defective tyres and oil leaks. He said that there had also been a number of delayed prohibitions and defect had been informed in writing of their duties. Twenty new larger volume vehicles had recently been bought and the aim was to have vehicles not more than three years old.
