• Merseyside Police has issued a warning to waste operators that fly-tippers will be dealt with severely under a multi-agency campaign to clean up the county. At least 45 flytipping sites have been identified and police say they will be "extra vigilant".
French dispute • The RHA is asking the Government to fight for compensation for UK hauliers who lost money in the French lorry drivers blockade in July 1992. Its £325,000 claim was rejected by the French but the RHA says action is possible under EC and international law.
