WORK has started on a new four-mile stretch of road to bypass the Greater Manchester towns of Leigh and Atherton.
The road, costing £7.9m, will extend from the A572 St Helens Road in the south, along the west side of Leigh, before connecting with the A577 Wigan Road and will take two years to complete.
