• Four resin repair systems from Sika Inertol were used to repair inspection pits at the Department of Transport HGV testing station in Livingston.
Since test facilities could not be withdrawn, local contractor Chemcem (Bishopbriggs) completed the extensive remedial works within six 16-hour weekend shifts. The concrete walls were badly pitted from exposure to oils and acid. The contractor therefore began work by needle gunning the walls, floors and stairs before washing thoroughly.
Where running water occurred the leaks were point plugged using fast-setting Sika 2 compounds followed by Sikatop 121 polymer mortar. The walls and floors were then primed and rendered using cement-polymer based Sikatop 122 repair mortars applied to a thickness of 12nun. Finally, all concrete wall surfaces were given a coating of the polymer-based Sikatop-Seal 107.
