Strong Box of Sandy, Bedfordshire, is now offering its Tallboy, a 12.2m long semi-trailer with a height of 4.7m which provides an internal cube of close to 105m3 (3,7000 — an increase of more than 25% compared to
conventional trailers.
The Tallboy is based on a standard air-suspended tandem-axle Tidd Series 100 step frame, and has foam cored steel panels and a one-piece translucent roof. Kerbweight is around 7,500kg.
First operator to take delivery of a Tallboy is Bowater Scott, manufacturers of Andrex and other toilet tissues, which has specified the prototype Tallboy with a pneumatically-operated lifting roller floor to speed the unloading of high-cube low mass products.
