the controversial Arena programme on road transport Night Moves — axed late last year — will now be shown on Saturday, April 11. .
Grade originally pulled the plug on the 60-minute documentary, which is an updated version of the old GPO documentary Night Mail, after concern was expressed on how the film was financed, with sponsorship coming from a number of companies in the road transport industry, including Commercial Motor.
Before Night Moves is screened, however, the BBC will pay back in full the ,275,000 in sponsorship money raised from nine road transport firms by the programme's independent producer. It has also cut parts of the film and removed what it describes as a "gratuitous" close up shot of a trade name and a full list of sponsors from the closing credits.
