MAINTENANCE of the Dseries Ford,, the subject of this Workshop Ways, is straightforward and presents few problems. There are some short cuts, however, which with the right equipment will considerably cut the time spent on the job.
For this feature we visited the Endeavour Motor Company, of Brighton, and followed through the 12,000-mile service of a D1311 operated by Allenwest, a local electrical contractor. The vehicle was almost exactly a year old and had covered about 54,000 miles. During all this time the vehicle has been serviced under Ford's Contract Confidence system by Endeavour. As far as Allenwest is concerned this includes the replacement of any necessary parts without consultation. The service revealed a nu ber of items needing replai ment and this work IA scheduled to be done folio ing the service. The policy this garage is to let the fit. carry out a brief road test the vehicle before any work carried out and again after t job has been completed.
The work completed duni the 12,000-mile service took hours and cost £39.55. Tilt was also an additional hc charged at £5.15 for a prevt tive maintenance check, To cost for the service includi the replacement injectors a other parts needed came £74.59.
