The dismissal of a James Express Carriers' driver for "speeding" on a motorway (CM Mar 151 has resulted in security patrols being removed.
Mr. Jackson Moore, general secretary of United Road Transport union, told CM on Tuesday: "The matter has been settled very satisfactorily. The driver concerned was offered re-instatement following discussions with Mr. Swindells, managing director of BRS Parcels Ltd. Our member had already obtained better paid work and did not wish to return. His pay was made up fully and all reference to the incident has been expunged. Most important of all, the security patrols have been taken off".
