HITE Motor Corporation, the American heavy vehicle nufacturer, has announced details of its right-hand drive, ward-control tractive unit scheduled to be assembled at mborough, near Ellesmere Port (CM News, June 28).
Systems and components t have been changed on the ad Commander 2 to meet C requirements include rearw mirrors, the braking sysn, and headlight and tail light iitions.
The tractive unit's rear axle is an Eaton 30427 singlereduction unit with a capacity of 1361kg (13.4 tons), while the front axle is made by White and has a capacity of 6350kg (6.25 tons).
Standard engine and transmission is the 240kVV (325bhp) Caterpillar engine coupled to a Fuller RTO-9513 13-speed twin-countershaft gearbox, but a 209kW (280bhp) Caterpillar engine and nine-speed Fuller gearbox are available as options.
The 3.48m (137in) wheelbase tractive has Kysor air conditioning fitted as standard, a Kienzle tachograph and twin aluminium fuel tanks with a total capacity of 659 litres (145 galls).
Retail price of the 280hp version is £30,500, the 325hp one £31,500.
