DURHAM police have been testing the new DATAC speedchecking system, which its manufacturer, Fidus Controls Ltd, claims is better than existing apparatus and is accurate to less than seven inches in a mile. It is now undergoing Home Office trials.
Derek Tither, managing director of Fidus, has complete faith in the device. The police used it to book him for speeding in the Tyne and Wear area Moral: If you make a better mousetrap, pull your finger out.
