THE BEAUTY of the English countryside has to compete with television for the attention of the West Indies cricket team on its 14-week 6500 mile tour of the United Kingdom. The entertainment is provided on the side's National Express Leyland coach.
An international company that was to supply two colour television receivers and a video recorder backed out at the last moment because a generator had to be installed. Clive Haynes, technical director of 'stead Audio Visual, of Worcester, came to the rescue and solved the problem of operating the equipment off a 24V battery. Whether he has been hailed as a benefactor of mankind I am unable to say.
