A CALL for a general ban on the sale of tyre sealants has been turned down in the Commons.
Junior Transport Minister Kenneth Clarke said there is no case, on present evidence, for doing this, and he added that he was having further tests carried out on the various types.
Recalling that he had already issued a public warning about the dangers which could arise if, sealants were not used with the very greatest care, Mr Clarke said that his officials were in touch with the manufacturers and distributors about the need for suitable warnings and in structions for use to be displayed in advertising material and on product containers.
He is fully aware of the work already carried out by the Automobile Association and he would be happy to hear any further evidence on the matter.
