• Iles Transport, a Darlington haulage firm, was ordered by a Darlington court to pay £126 to the Road Transport Industries Training Board and also 115 costs. It was stated that although three assessments on the amount the firm should pay had been made by the Training Board nothing had been paid. Mr Iles, proprietor of the company, said that although he was against the training
scheme he was prepared to pay his contribution if a true and right assessment was made. He claimed that his firm moved to its present address three years ago, but the Training Board had been sending all letters to his old address, and he added that no one had been to see him about the money owed. But Mr C. Bainbridge, training officer, said he had visited Mr Iles, 4 years ago on the matter.
