• DAF has developed a new automatic transmission system for large vehicles. The production planning stage has already been reached and a wholly owned subsidiary — van Doorne's Transmissie NV — has been set up to develop and produce the automatic transmission. Mr E. J. Hamstra Pic has been appointed manager of the new company.
This new transmission system has been developed by Dr H. J. van Doome, the founder of DAF but further technical details are not available at this stage.
