Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN application by G. Peascod, Ltd., Liverpool, for a new picking-up point on the Kirkby housing estate has been refused by the North Western Traffic Commissioners. There were objections from Liverpool Corporation, Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. and T. Lawrenson, Ltd.

At the hearing at Liverpool last month (The Commercial Motor, October 12) a corporation spokesman submitted that the present picking-up points used by Peascod, Ribble and Lawrenson, on the perimeter of the estate, were adequate, and were well served by Liverpool's stage services. At a time when many services were unremunerative, they could not turn a blind eye to coach operators skimming the cream from the recreational traffic that was available.

For Ribble, it was suggested that a grant must start competition which would result in applications for points at every street corner.
