AWASHING machine which can be wheeled into position and used at any point where there is a suitable supply of electricity and water, is available from Equipment and Engineering Co., Ltd., 2 Norfolk Street. Strand.
London, W.C.2. Known as the Februat, it consists of two identical units, each powered with its own 3 h.p. electric motor.
The motor drives brushes mounted • on a vertical shaft, the revolving assembly being shrouded by a semicircular splash guard. When the washer is in action a series of jets, arranged on each side of the splash guard, projects sprays of water on to the body of the vehicle and, in conjunction with the revolving brushes, it is possible to clean the vehicle at one pass.
Each unit is mounted on four rubber-cushion wheels, two of which are permitted to swivel to assist in manceuvring. When once the units have been arranged in position, they are kept steady by jacks, which can also be used to impart a tilt to the units so that the brushes can follow more closely the contour of the upper part of a vehicle.
The washer can be adjusted for use on either a double-deck or single-deck vehicle, or it can be supplied for only single-deck vehicles. With the Februat, it is not necessary to keep it permanently sited as it takes only a few minutes to place in position and connect up.
