L-1. A BIG. meeting of hauliers and users
was held in London last week to prepare a case against the Minister of Tramport's proposed new restrictions on the carriage of abnormal indivisible loads.
• It was preceded by a meeting of the heavy haulage group of the Road Haulage Association. The members agreed on the basis of a memorandum to be submitted to the Minister.
Afterwards they met representative; of other transport interests and of a number, of manufacturers' organizations. Those present included delegates from the Contractors' Plant Association. Federation of British Industries, Timber. Trades."Federation, Traders' Road Transport Association, British Road Federation, Federation of Home Timber Associations, British Transport Vehicle Manufacturers' AssoCiation, Federation . of Contractors and Machinery Importers,. National Federation of Building Trade Employers, Reinforced Concrete Association, Locomotive Manufacturers' Association, British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers' Association, B.R.S. (Pickfords), Ltd., National Union of Manufacturers and the Society of Motor Manufac: turers and Traders.
The wide scope of the interests represented emphasizes the far-reaching effects which the Minister's proposals are likely to have.
