1/2 Ton AN A.E.C. Matador Mark 111 lorry recently supplied to Transport A.-G. Lan gna , La gna u, Berne; incorporates a number of interesting features. "1 he operator called for right-hand drive, so that when meeting oncoming traffic on Alpine roads, the driver may more easily pull over to his side of the toad. A Duramin body is fitted. This is made of light alloy and has saved an estimated 1--ton in weight. The load to hz.. handled is large cheeses and as not more than four or five can be carried on top of each other, provision has been made for a second deck. In addition, the vehicle can be employed as a dropsided lorry or a van with a tarpaulin covering.
One of the customer's requirements vs as a support for the tailboard, which slides into the body when not in use. The drop sides are made in two sections,

and the front and rear, cornet pillars and. the centre side pillars are provided with socket into which. removable beatits may he dropped to bear the flooring and sides of the upper deck. Sockets are also provided to carry the
removable and adjustable hoopsticks to support the tarpaulin.
Removable beams and other body members, snow chains, picks and other equipment are housed in lockers beneath the floor. The cab embodies many special features, including a Delaney Gallay heater, twin windscreen wipers and tinted Perspex sun vizors. Two Notek foglamps are mounted in a low position, and an interior light is fitted. Another light is mounted on the headboard of the body to illuminate the body interior when the vehicle is used as a van.
Sunken direction indicators are another refinement. The cab panelt are ireated with rubber insulation material and great care has been taken to ensure that the driving compartment is dratightproof.
