NfiR. MARPLES last week refused to 11'1 give an assurance that the controversial lorry route into London from the north would not go through Highgate -Village. He told Mr. Kenneth Robinson (Labour, St. Pancras North) that he was re-examining the proposal in the light of the many detailed comments and suggestions made in response to 'his original announcement.
Asked about road communications with Hull, Mr. Marples said he had no plans for extending the proposed LancashireYorkshire motorway to the port. He did propose, however, to improve the trunk roads to Hull and to provide a first-class road communication system linking it both with the West Riding and with Doncaster and the South.
Goods Transport Survey PROVISIONAL results of the early part of the road goods transport survey being taken by the Ministry of Transport will probably be published by the end of this year. Mr. Marples said that the full report would be published towards the end of next year.
