BARRHEAD Town Council objected. last week to applications by McGill's Bus Service Ltd. to continue without modification its services between Barrhead and Paisley. The Council contended that on the Barrhead-Glasgow route the
Western Co. Ltd.; Kilmarnock, issued return tickets, while on the applicant's Barrhead-Paisley route, no return tickets were issued when passengers asked for them.
For McGill's, Mr. J. Gallie said: " You cannot impose return fares on a single fares structure ".
Concession Fares?
What the Council had in mind, stated a member of the Council's legal department, was that there was a very large growing public on the route between Barrhcad and Paisley, owing to the growth of new housing estates, and he thought that the apPicant's should issue concession fares for these reasons.
People travelling between 13arrhead and Paisley should get thesame concessions as those travelling between Barrhead and Glasgow.
"We propose to grant the application without alterations," said Mr. Quin. "We do this on the grounds that the Council is asking for increases in -the range of concession fares. Whatever the Western S.M.T. do, we expect them to co-ordinate with other operators."
