AS a. to the Road
Haulage Executive's gazetteer of state-controlled haulage undertakings, the Road Haulage Association's Eastern Area office has produced a list of 264 free hauliers operating in its district. ,
The R.H.A. gazetteer is meant for distribution to transport users and a prefatory note explains that the hauliers included in the booklet, not having been acquired by the B.T.C., remain to serve users as users would wish to be-served, and are organized to give better service than the State system.
A separate chapter is devoted to each county, the names and addresses of free hauliers in them being given, together with the classes of traffic in which they specialize.
The numbers of hauliers in each county listed in the gazetteer -are as follows:—Bedford, 19; Cambridge, 27; Essex, 75; Hertford, 5; Huntingdon, 4; Lincoln, 2; Northampton, 5; Norfolk, 73; Suffolk, 54.
