L-ROM observations made during a recent visit to Canada, the certifying officer of the West Midland Area, Mr. F. H. Paul, is convinced that neatness of dress in passenger-transport staffs has a great effect on efficiency.
" On the long-distance buses," he has stated, " drivers and conductors wore well-cut uniforms and spotless shirts and collars. One told me that his company allowed him six shirts, and he added that he always wore a fresh shirt each clay.
"in Britain the cost factor might be advanced as an obstacle to giving transport personnel better, smarter uniforms, but I am sure that such an outlay would be amply repaid by more efficient service.",
